We feel that the bucks we own and the semen we use must come from exceptional genetic lines as they contribute so much to our herd.  A single buck can either destroy years of selective breeding, or provide ‘across the board’ upgrades, no matter who the kid’s dam is.  We’d rather have one or two outstanding bucks and a string of healthy, ordinary does than a few does with show and milk performance records to begin a herd with.

We are so fortunate here at QSF to have had more than just one or two exceptional bucks contribute to our herd’s genetics!  We continue to watch with excitement as each kidding occurs, as we do remember back years ago to animals that certainly weren’t the quality that we now have…  Special thanks to those breeders who’ve provided bucks with the solid genetics needed for herd improvement.

NIGERIAN SENIOR BUCKS

Watch for TWIN CREEKS BW BROWNDIRTCOWBOY *S to be added here real soon! Thanks again to our friends, Amy & Audrey Kowalik for selling us this wonderful buck, with such an outstanding pedigree. We’ll be picking up ‘Bubba’ when we travel to Texas in June to pick up our Nubian does and buckling. Bubba can be seen at LOST VALLEY NIGERIANS

PROMISEDLAND CP ARIES *S (pending)

Sire:  MCH CAESER’S VILLA CBS COWPOKE +*S ‘E’  (Stonewall’s Midnight Cowboy +S X Goodwood Mindy *D)  Dam:  HAYSEED FARM’S LD MAYZEE *D (ARMCH Twin Creeks LS Luck Ofthe Draw +*S ‘E’ X Hayseed Farms KK Dayzee)

07-01-02  TRICOLOR  21-1/2″

This beautifully colored, attractive buck is a recent addition and we’re very pleased with him to say the least.  God is SO good!  To have been able to blend back the genetics of Prairie Hawk (half brother to Luck Ofthe Draw), plus add such a jam packed, proven pedigree for show wins and milk stats across the board is just awesome!   Aries is very easy going in nature and his kids are very calm and gentle as well.  As soon as it’s warm enough to clip here in the extreme northwest, we’ll get a photo up, in addition to his five generation pedigree.  He’s very uphill and stands on correct feet and legs.  High, open escutcheon area, which has shown up in each of his kids thus far.  This guy is very angular and open, with an awesome set of tight shoulders and a very smooth blending throughout.   His exceptional pedigree will blend quite nicely into our current line breeding program, plus add some color to a program which was ending up with quite a few chamoisee (although beautiful!) animals.  His kids are all very correct with long bodies, nice width, excellent feet and legs and of course they’re very colorful!  We hope to freshen one of his daughters fairly soon and would expect that we’ll see nice udder conformation and milkability as well.   He’s currently bred to some of our wonderful does and we certainly look forward to seeing more of his colorful, correct babies hit the ground.   We need to have one of our new Nubian bucks collected for his former owner, probably next year, so we will collect Aries at that time also.  We’ll consider offering semen for sale privately to approved herds.

TWIN CREEKS MF PRAIRIE HAWK *S

2001 AGS RESERVE NATIONAL JUNIOR CHAMPION BUCK

SON OF 1999 AND 2001 AGS NATIONAL CHAMPION DOE

Sire:  GOODWOOD MALTESE FALCON *S    Dam:  MCH/PGCH RAHA ACRES TWINK’S PIXIE *D ‘E’

9-25-00  25-1/2″  LT BROWN/CREAM BUCKSKIN

Hawk is currently at our friend Jean William’s herd in Washington, but as soon as he’s covered does there he will be coming home to QSF to stay!  Thanks just isn’t enough Jean for sending our favorite guy home to us.  God is SO good!

Exceptional, irreplaceable genetics in this lovely guy!  Hawk is smoothly blended throughout, very long bodied with an excellent body depth, has an open escutcheon area, is level from hips to pins, has thin dairy skin and a nice long rump.  He throws these same nice qualities in his kids and the kids have shown consistent improvement no matter who the dam is.  His faults are a slight toe out in front, he’s a bit over in height and has a slight dip in the chine.   We see the slight toe out in some of his kids and we can certainly live with it considering the elegance this exceptional sire stamps on his kids.  (No cobby kids here, who look more like their pygmy goat cousins!)  We are pleased with the udder improvement, as well as improved milkability thus far on his daughters.  He does tend to lengthen teats and also if teat placement is a problem, to bring those into proper alignment, depending on severity.  He’s the easiest buck to handle that we’ve ever owned and he does seem to pass on his gentle disposition to his kids.  After owning many different, yet very well bred bucks in the last four years, with some of the most popular genetics in the Nigerian world, we feel that Hawk is the most consistent buck we’ve ever seen.  Hawk will be used in late 2004 and early 2005 on some of our nicest Aries daughters and we expect the genetic combination of these two outstanding bucks to be wonderful!  We will have Hawk collected next year and will again offer semen for sale privately to select herds.  We will be retaining the semen we currently have on hand for ‘insurance’ in case, God forbid, we were to lose him.

We have semen currently from the following well known Nigerian and Nubian bucks in our tank and will be using it selectively on our own does.  No semen for sale at this time.

MCH TWIN CREEKS BW PERFECT STORM *S

2002 AGS RESERVE NATIONAL CHAMPION BUCK

SON OF 2002 AGS NATIONAL CHAMPION DOE, BEST DOE IN SHOW, BEST UDDER OF BREED

Sire: MCH TWIN CREEKS BH BAY WATCH *S ‘E’   Dam:  MCH TWIN CREEKS BH MARIRI’S ZINNIA 4*D ‘E’

9-19-00  22.25″  LT CREAM CHAMOISEE

Storm is a smoothly blended, deep bodied young buck with good angulation, long rump, nice shoulder assembly, good width throughout and an open escutcheon area.  Excellent general appearance.  He throws long bodied, smoothly blended kids with excellent general appearance and correct angulation.  The first blend we have attempted using Storm on our Hawk daughter turned out exceptionally well.   We do find that some of his kids go through gangly, hocky growth stages that straighten up and level out with maturity, so we’ve learned  that patience is indeed rewarded with this fine buck!    We were indeed blessed to have him here and also to have been able to collect semen on him for the future of our herd.  Storm is back in his original herd, Hill Country, with our friend William Kowalik.

PIDDLIN ACRES CAJUN MUSIC

SIRE OF 2001 AGS NATIONAL CHAMPION JUNIOR BUCK AND ALSO 2002 AGS RESERVE NATIONAL CHAMPION JUNIOR BUCK

Sire:  MCH TWIN CREEKS BH BAY WATCH *S ‘E’   Dam:  MCH PIDDLIN ACRES DOE ‘C’ DOE ‘E’

11-21-99  22.25″ GOLD AND WHITE

Cajun is a super long bodied buck with open escutcheon area, good width throughout, a deep body and long rump.  His kids have shown improvement in medials with nice globular shaped mammaries, smoothness of blending, good width throughout and especially between the hocks, good feet and legs.  His progeny do seem to be small in size and stature and very consistent in conformation improvement in areas where the dams might be incorrect.    We were indeed blessed to have had Cajun with us and to have had the chance to collect semen on this superior buck.  We will be using his semen on some of our best does in the near future and will expect that Cajun’s kids will continue to show the conformational correctness and mammary consistency that we’ve come to expect.   Cajun has gone back home to Lost Valley, to our friends Amy and Audrey Kowalik, but we’ll expect to see a huge impact on our herd in the future due to the improvements this fine buck causes in his kids, and even in his grandkids!

PROMISEDLAND LIVID’S LEGACY

2-6-2000  17.50″  SOLID CREAM

SON OF MCH/PGCH WILLOW CREEK LIVID ‘E,E’

Sire:  GREEN GATE GOLDIGGER *S ‘VG’   (Grandson of MCH/PGCH Goodwood X-Ray ‘E,E’)

We have a limited supply of semen available from the one time we collected Legacy while we owned him.  And boy are we glad we collected him!  We recently were blessed with the addition of two Legacy daughters back into the QSF herd and the udder improvement on the one who has freshened is exceptional over some udder shortfalls in her dam.  We are also seeing tighter shoulders, better shoulder blending and a decrease in height on these daughters over their dams.  Legacy resides in Southern Idaho with our good friend, Heidi Kirby.  We’ll be bringing Legacy’s genetics back into the QSF herd over the next couple of years and we expect we’ll see the same conformation improvements we currently see in his kids, and udder strengths that we see in his current first freshening daughter.  God is indeed good!

NUBIAN BUCKS FOR OUR AI PROGRAM

*B KASTDEMUR’S AESOP

FULL BROTHER TO KASTDEMUR’S AUDACITY, 2003 ADGA JR CH DOE!

Sire:  *B KASTDEMUR’S LH FULL SERVICE  LA 91   Dam:  GCH KASTDEMUR’S AUBREE 3*M  LA 92

This proven line needs no introduction in national level Nubian breeding circles and show rings.  *B Kastdemur’s LH Full Service was the 2003 ADGA National Jr. Get of Sire winner.   We look forward to not only using Aesop semen, but also will hopefully be purchasing further semen from the Kastdemur lines in the near future, as this is without a doubt one of the most consistent Nubian lines in the nation.

++*B GCH KISMET MARVINS SMOOTH OPERATOR (deceased)

Sire:  ++*B HALLCIENDA FROSTY MARVIN (GCH ++*B Hallcienda Antony X Hallcienda Noel 6*M)   Dam:  GCH KISMET HERO’S NUTMEG 2*M  (++*B Amberwood’s Viking’s Hero X Calliope Val’s Valley Girl 1*M)

Not much by way of introduction is needed here either for this beautiful buck who was sired by the famous Frost Marvin!  Smooth Operator was premier sire at the 1996 ADGA National Show.  His daughters won 1st place Get of Sire at the 1991, 1993, 1994 and 1996 National Shows with daughters placing consistently at the top of their individual classes.  Smooth has 45 Permanent Champion Sons, more permanent champion progeny than any other Nubian buck as of January 2003!  By AI, his progeny continue to appraise highly, place well at National level shows and show increase in milkability.   We are so fortunate to have been able to purchase semen from this outstanding Nubian sire!  Watch for our new line bred ‘Smooth’ junior buckling to be arriving home soon in June.  Smooth’s photo courtesy of his owner, Beverly Wallace, 4B Farm.  Beverly has some beautiful does sired by Smooth, five of which are permanent champions and the other has one GCH leg.  All have placed consistently in stiff California and Texas competition and five of them have easily achieved their milk stars on one day tests.  Beverly shares that Smooth’s sons are proving to be great sires, passing on their strong milking lines, gentle dispositions, elegance and strong conformational traits.
